Honor And Respect~
"I can tell you that understanding begins with love and respect. It begins with respect for the Great Spirit. All things- and I mean ALL things- have their own will and their own way and their own purpose; this is what is to be respected." --Rolling Thunder
It's been awhile now since my friend and spiritual leader,Marvin has left home to spread his wings down in Kansas. My words to him before I parted from his house, was that I understand. I guess I always thought that he should be amongst the Oyate(the People), for there are many needs amongst the people. Yet, so does Marvin, and it has to be respected.
Sometimes we may not like what another person decides, or does with their life, but it must be honored and respected. This is something we, as humans lack for each other, including for ourselves, and we must practice. Because if we possess this within, then it is that we learn acceptance. My thought anyway!
I have heard it not just from the Elders and in ceremony that: There are many things to be shared with the four colors of man in our common destiny as one family upon our Mother the Earth.
Because I have taken it into my heart...for me, this is one thing I can share. More importantly, I can show as example, for I show 'honor and respect' to all people. It is the way it must be in life, for all to have peace, and truly possess love. But it isn't just within the Native tribes that it is taught, this belief...It was Kahlil Gibran who relayed:
I love you when you bow in your mosque, kneel in your temple, pray in your church. For you and I are sons of one religion, and it is the spirit.
And there are many more people of different walks who share this with the world, if only people will listen.
Although you may see your brother as different, and separate from yourself...there is a connectedness. It is my thought that we need to change our mind-thinking, and see, not with our eyes, but moreso with what is called in Lakota, Cante Ista, the Eye of the Heart. When it is we do this, we will come to the awareness that each color of life holds all that we need to help each other heal. I am wishing you peace in your moments~ May you always have 'enough'.
"The future depends on what you do today."
— Mahatma Gandhi
It's necessary sometimes to take 'inventory' of our 'self '...look at where you have been...see where you are now...and get on with life. Be in the Now! There's a lot of possibilities today that will create your 'tomorrow'. It is good to take personal inventory....rethink what is good about yourself...what can possibly be better?
I have heard a saying that goes, You move toward and become what you think about. So what are your thoughts today? What are you thinking about yourself? Are they positive thoughts or are you thinking negatively about yourself? How about other people...what are you thinking about other people? Are they good thoughts? Are you more focused on things that happened in the past or focused on now? Put the past where the past belongs and get on with your life today! Just my thought this day!
Another thought that comes to mind...There are some things you have control over...some things you do not. That which you have control over...control it...that which you can't...leave to the Creator. That which you can change...change it...that which you can't...just let go of...learn acceptance...and again, give the control over to the Creator. I am wishing you all peace!
"I sought to hear the voice of God and climbed the topmost steeple, but God declared: "Go down again~ I dwell among the people." ~John Henry Newman
Show me an act of love. Do you know how to do this? Hold respect for one another. Forgive that other. Feed another. Bring laughter to that other. Take the time to listen to one another, for these are acts of love. There are so many ways really. People suffer each and every day. Help them, If you see suffering. Above all, pray for one another. In this, that is called, a 'blog' entry, I give my love. May you always have 'enough'.
